Our vision at Family Mental Wealth is to help you build the mental health and wellbeing of your family members, so that mental health crises are less likely to occur. In particular our Parent Toolkit provides a really useful video on ‘Avoiding Irreversible Harm’ including how to create a Safety Plan.
We are not able to provide immediate help in the event of a mental health crisis, but other organisations are.
Wherever you are in the world you might find that searching online for ‘mental health crisis help’ will enable you to find local sources of help.
If you are in the UK, here are some organisations that could help you (they are available 24/7 for anyone in a crisis):
- NHS. Call 111 (or 999 if it is a life-threatening emergency) or go to their Urgent Help for Mental Health page or their Help for Suicidal Thoughts page.
- Samaritans helplines. Call 116 123 or go to their website.
- Shout support via text. Text ‘shout’ to 85258 or go to their website.
- Childline (for under 19s). Call 0800 1111 or go to their website.
